Recreation Basketball at Its Best
2024-25 Season Overview
- Open to all 1st - 8th graders living in South Orange and Maplewood NJ.
- Teams play 1x a week
- All activities take place at either South Orange Middle School or South Orange Recreation's Baird Gymnasium
- Season begins on Saturday December 7th and runs through March 15th (1st & 2nd Graders end March 1st)
- League is volunteer led and coached

Boys 1st & 2nd Grade - Saturday 945-1030am
Girls 3rd & 4th Grade - Saturday 1050-1150am
Boys 3rd & 4th Grade - Saturday 1205-105 & 115-215pm
Girls 5th & 6th Grade - Saturday 230-345 & 355-510pm
Boys 5th & 6th Grade - Saturday 355-510 & 520-635pm
Boys 7th & 8th Grade - Sunday 1130-4pm
Girls 7th & 8th Grade - Sunday 430-600pm

About Us
Community Basketball In An Amazing Community
A community based recreation league, SOMA Hoops seeks to make the game of basketball accessible to every 1st-8th grade child in SOMA. Through a combination of skill based learning and game play, our once-a-week league is led by SOMA volunteers (parents, guardians, high school coaches & players), with the goal of ensuring every child within our community can learn the game and have fun playing it
with their peers.
